SPORT SPECIFIC ID

At New Horizon Athletics we are constantly striving to meet our young athletes needs and provide the best service possible. Sport Specific ID is for high school or collegiate athletes looking to improve their performance through a strength and conditioning program that focuses on proper development and progression. Each of our programs are built with the demands of each sport in mind. Upon entering our program each athlete will be taken through a health and performance assessment, this allows us to track progress and adjust programs as needed.

Above The Rim

Is a 16 week progressive program with intermediate to advanced plyometrics and strength training focused on developing the vertical jump.

This program may also serve as a good offseason or preseason cycle when paired with regular open gym play or practice.

Olympic Weightlifting

This is an ongoing program that is focused on the development of the Olympic Lifts that are considered the Snatch and Clean and Jerk. This program will also work on developing the supporting lifts such as squat variations, deadlift variations, vertical and horizontal push variations, and overall strength and power development. This program will also prep and prepare lifters for any local or national events.

Basketball Preseason

This program is 14 weeks, designed to prepare and peak an athlete in both strength and conditioning before the start of the season. This program focuses on progressive strength overload and linear progression, (SAQ) speed, agility, and quickness development, lateral speed and change of direction, linear speed and change of direction, vertical and horizontal force production and absorption, and acceleration and deceleration. This program also incorporates isolated strengthening and mobility work to decrease the risk of injury.

Football Preseason

Volleyball Preseason

This program is 10 weeks focused general strength development, isolated strength work at the foot/ankle complex, and hips. Volleyball demands a lot of jumping and landing, quick movements side to side, and forward/backwards. We typically see overuse injuries in the knees and ankles. Proper strength and plyometric training will help reduce overuse injuries and increase performance.

Summer Baseball Strength and Conditioning

This will be a 10-14 week program focused on maintaining strength through the duration of summer baseball play. We typically see overuse injuries, imbalances, or compensations start to show up in our baseball players if strength, mobility, and corrective work is not maintained. This program will incorporate general strength training, proper arm care, (SAQ) speed, agility, quickness, and reactiveness training.
